As part of the BBC School Report today, The Bridge Academy students are aiming to produce two new reports. The first on recycling in the school and in Hackney Borough and the second conveying our excitement about the new school. A presentation from a BBC journalist called Ian has helped us to prepare for today. Check this space at 4pm to see how we have done!

Our plan was to produce two news reports. We attended lessons and had a special visit from Ian Brimacombe, a BBC journalist, who helped us structure our plans. We managed to record all the relevant footage we needed such as interviews (with Ms Blackmore, Ms Semmens, Ms Springer, Ms Hamilton and others), student ‘vox pops’ and background noises. We then began the editing process which became increasingly difficult due to a range of technical hitches. We will now publish our findings, which consist of our plans and some examples of recordings to use in our final broadcasts.

The New School report was a success in that we were able to ‘really enjoy ourselves and have a lot of fun’ (Marlo) as well as record all the footage we needed for our broadcast. Unfortunately, the editing proved to be an uphill struggle without the necessary expertise. Ben was a technical master, assisted ably by Tolga, but even this genius was constantly attacked by technical gremlins, which has prevented us, thus far from completing our report.
